What each role can do

On this page

Every person in The GAiGE has one of five roles: Owner, Admin, Senior Leader, Group Leader or Member. The role decides what they can see and what they can change.

OwnerLink to this section

Owners can do everything Admins can do, plus:

  • Manage billing: choose or change the plan, update the payment method and see invoices
  • Cancel the subscription
  • Make someone else an Owner

An organisation can have several Owners, and only an Owner can make someone else an Owner. The person who signed up starts as the Owner. Owners can change the plan and cancel the account, so choose them deliberately.

AdminLink to this section

Full access to everything that runs the organisation's AI governance and measurement, except billing. Admins see the plans, read-only.

Admins can:

  • Add, edit and remove AI tools, and record their costs and decisions
  • Add, invite, deactivate and remove people
  • Create and manage groups
  • Build, edit and pause pulses
  • Run Governance set-up, publish the AI policies and run the Leadership Position tool and reviews
  • See all reports and the full Dashboard
  • Change the organisation's settings, such as its time zone and, on Pro, the hourly rate

This is the right role for anyone who runs it day to day, typically a People, IT or operations lead.

Senior LeaderLink to this section

Takes part in the Leadership Position tool and reads the organisation's Dashboard and Reports, without changing settings. On identifiable pulses, sees names only in the groups they lead. Senior Leaders also read the decisions behind the AI policies, under Decisions, without the admins' private reasoning.

This is the right role for members of the leadership team who don't run The GAiGE themselves.

Group LeaderLink to this section

Sees results for only the groups they lead, plus their own answers, and can't change settings or invite people. On identifiable pulses, they see the names of people in the groups they lead. On Pro, where the organisation has switched on the Group Leaders' view of feedback, they also read their groups' requests, suggestions, tools found and General Feedback, read-only, and never incident reports (Your groups' requests and feedback, for Group Leaders).

Use this role when a team lead should see how their team is getting on with each tool without seeing the whole organisation. For example, a Marketing Director who leads the Marketing and Communications group sees that group's results, and not Engineering's.

To make someone a Group Leader, set their role to Group Leader and make them a leader of one or more groups on the group's page under People → Groups.

MemberLink to this section

The usual role. Members can:

  • Read Our AI policies, and ask a question about what is allowed
  • Answer their pulses in their AI Adoption Portal, or in the browser extension (highly recommended)
  • See their own answers in their AI Adoption Portal
  • Update their own settings (time zone, name, reminder emails)

Members can't see anyone else's answers, not even their team's, and they can't see organisation-wide reports, costs or settings.

Most of your team should be Members.

Changing someone's roleLink to this section

Go to People → All people, open the person and choose Change role. It takes effect straight away, and the message that follows has Undo. To change several people at once, tick them and choose the role in the bar above the list.

To make someone an Owner, an Owner opens their record and chooses Make an Owner. An organisation always keeps at least one Owner, so the last Owner makes someone else an Owner before stepping down.

Group Leaders with several groupsLink to this section

A Group Leader can lead more than one group, and sees the groups they lead together. To keep someone to one group, make them a leader of that group only.
